JAMA - Selected Biography

Born 1974, Havana, Cuba

- Studies Geography for five years at the Universidad-Instituto Superior Pedagogico Enrique Jose Varona and meets scholars, painters, mathematicians, biologists and musicians.
- Leaves the university to write and subsequently to paint.
1999
- Paints seven murals in his native city, Guines La Habana, Cuba.
- Participates in the first Salon Provincial (Prova Cuba) Prollecto Cubano Espanol de Arte.
- Paints a mural in the patio of the Galeria de Arte Universal de Su de Guines La Habana, Cuba.
2000
- Shows in the XIII Edition del Salon Provincial de Artes Plasticas Aristides Fernandes
- One person show (Interferencia I) in the Galeria de Arte Universal de Guines La Habana,
Cuba.
- Simultaneous exhibition in the 7th Biennial of Havana, Cuba at Casa Cristina.
2001
- One person show (Interferencia II) in the Galeria Museo de San Jose de Las Lajas, Havana, Cuba.
- One person show (Interferencia III) in the Galerie de Arte Universal de Guines La Habana, Cuba.
- One person show at Teatro Avenido Guanabo, Havana, Cuba.
- Exhibited in Sale de Cuba for Costa Rica where he paints a series of works on paper.
- After two months in Costa Rica, he arrives in the U.S. and eventually settles in Miami, FL.
2002
- Founds the group, D’Art Factory, in Miami, FL where he makes a series of performance
exhibitions.
2005
- Solo exhibition at Art + Gallery, Miami, FL, January, 2005
2006
- His wife and daughter leave Cuba and join him in Miami.
- JAMA: The Hurricane Series, New Paintings, two person exhibition with Clyde Butcher, Photographs of Cuba, at Art + Gallery, Miami, FL, April – May, 2006
